The IONIQ 5 marks the beginning of a new era of clean mobility for Hyundai. Blurring the line between digital and analogue, the new battery-electric midsize SUV is the flagship model behind Hyundai’s new signature dedicated EV architecture. The estimated launch date for IONIQ 5 in New Zealand is in the 2nd half of 2021.

Sustainability

Eco-materials are extensively used in the interior of IONIQ 5. For example, raw materials extracted from sugar cane are used on the headliner, carpet and seat covers. A solution that is both recyclable and beautiful

Technology

With its 44" advanced heads-up display, the windshield becomes a display to guide you safely through the world. IONIQ 5 is also the first Hyundai with Level 2 autonomous safety.

Ultra-fast charging

The IONIQ 5 is one of the few in its category with an 800V battery system*. It charges ultra-fast, performs consistently high, and is optimised for weight and space.

Exterior Design

IONIQ 5’s unique exterior design is characterised by clean and sharp lines, creating a sleek and sophisticated look.

IONIQ 5’s distinctive and innovative design provides a unique experience that can only be enjoyed in dedicated BEVs, suggesting a fundamental shift in design approach.

Its front end is adorned with arrays of pixel-inspired lights suggestive of the digital technology within.

The IONIQ 5’s pure design is a refreshing take on electric vehicles, stripping away complexity to celebrate clean lines and minimalistic structures. The unique clamshell hood spans the entire width of the car, minimising panel gaps for a clean, high-tech look. The LED lighting showcases its signature Parametric Pixels – unique jewel-like design elements that will feature on the exterior of all future IONIQ models.

From night to bright in 256 pixels

See and be seen – the crown jewels of the iconic front-end presence are the distinctive LED headlamps with their 256 cubic pixels.

Bold and bright in the back

The innovative LED lighting design can be found in the back as well, with IONIQ 5’s signature Parametric Pixels highlighted in the unique rectangular rear light signature.

Exclusive 20" alloy wheels

The aero-optimised wheels further echo the design theme, exuding an exclusive electric flair, harmonising beautifully with the sleek profile.

Interior Design

Spacious, sustainable living
Inside the IONIQ 5, the lines between living space and moving space are being blurred. Our new EV platform allowed us to re-create the interior as a whole new in-car experience. A larger flat floor, highly adjustable front seats that can be fully reclined, and a flexible centre console that can be moved throughout the cabin make for an extraordinary experience.

The model’s modular dashboard includes a 12-inch full-touch infotainment screen exempt of hard buttons and a hoodless 12-inch digital gauge cluster that displays EV-related information while driving, such as battery status and nearby charging stations. Adjacent to the digital gauge cluster is a metal insert that can accommodate a multi-purpose tray holder.

Thoughtfully-designed interior to meet up-to-the-minute lifestyle needs

Universal Island

An innovative moveable centre console that can slide back as much as 140 mm. The sliding console allows passengers to not only enjoy more flexibility, but also freely enter and exit the cabin on either side when parked in a narrow spot. Second-row passengers also can enjoy centre console features, such as cup holders, a 15 W fast wireless smartphone charger and USB ports. Universal Island truly redefines the centre console, offering greater functionality than a static storage box.

‘Zero-Gravity’ seats

IONIQ 5 is equipped with electronically adjustable ‘Zero-Gravity’ front seats. The seats recline to the optimum angle, offering a weightless feeling for the occupant, hence the name ‘Zero-Gravity’ seats. Hyundai reduced the thickness of these front seats by about 30%, providing more space for those seated in the second row. This allows passengers to customize the interior space according to different needs and situations.

Vision roof

The vision roof of IONIQ 5 provides the interior with a greater sense of openness as IONIQ 5’s ceiling consists of one large glass panel without any support materials.

Reducing negative environmental impact with high-quality, eco-friendly interiors.

One of the clear demands was the need for more eco-conscious mobility solutions with lower environmental impact. Designers addressed these concerns through IONIQ 5’s use of eco-friendly and sustainably sourced materials.

The seats are clad in eco-processed leather that is dyed and treated with plant oil extractions from flaxseed.
Other soft furnishings throughout the cabin consist of textiles derived from sustainable fibres such as sugar cane bio components, wool and poly yarns, as well as material woven from fibres made from crushed used PET plastic bottles.

Surfaces such as the dashboard, switches, steering wheel and door panels are coated in a polyurethane bio paint composed of oils from rape flowers and corn.

Wide-screen digital cockpit

The 12.3” infotainment screen is seamlessly integrated with the 12.3” cluster for a high-tech look that comes standard – for easy access to all driving, safety and infotainment functions.

Relaxation seats

Enjoy premium comfort with two fully reclining relaxation seats in the front. Lean all the back for a refreshing break while charging – at the push of a single button.
