Porsche New Zealand has celebrated 50 years in New Zealand with a landmark anniversary weekend in Auckland, bringing together more than 250 Porsche sports cars and thousands of visitors to celebrate five decades of Porsche history in New Zealand.
Held on 19 and 20 September, the weekend included a gala dinner at the Viaduct Events Centre followed by a public celebration on Auckland’s waterfront. More than 230 Porsche sports cars took part in a convoy through the city before joining the public display.
A highlight of the weekend was the first New Zealand appearance of the legendary Porsche 917 KH, brought to the country from the Porsche Museum. The race car was displayed alongside six significant Porsche models representing different decades of Porsche in New Zealand.
The weekend also saw the unveiling of the 911 GT3 50 Years Porsche New Zealand, created in collaboration with Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department. Just five examples have been created to represent the five decades of Porsche in New Zealand, finished in Paint to Sample Yachting Blue Metallic.
Following the Auckland celebrations, Porsche Centre Wellington will bring 50 years of Porsche to the capital on Sunday 11 October.
Held at the Heritage Dominion Museum Building, the event will feature the 911 GT3 50 Years Porsche New Zealand, alongside a display of Porsche sports cars from local community clubs, showcasing the marque’s history and evolution.
The event is open to Porsche owners, enthusiasts and members of the public, with the opportunity to see the anniversary model and celebrate five decades of Porsche in New Zealand.
