As the year continues to evolve, the automotive market is moving just as quickly. Rising fuel prices and changing customer priorities continue to reshape buying habits, with more drivers than ever making the move toward hybrid, ultra-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
Demand for fuel efficient models has remained exceptionally strong, particularly across the Dongfeng range, where several EV and hybrid models have now completely sold out following an outstanding response from customers nationwide. New shipments are already on the way, however many incoming vehicles are also being secured quickly through pre-orders. To help customers avoid missing out, we are currently offering the ability to pre-order and reserve your new Dongfeng for just $99, allowing you to secure your preferred model ahead of arrival.
What continues to stand out to me is how rapidly perceptions around electric and hybrid vehicles are changing. Customers are no longer simply exploring these vehicles out of curiosity. They are actively making the switch because the technology, range, quality and overall ownership experience have improved dramatically in a very short period of time. Lower running costs remain an important factor, but increasingly people are also recognising just how refined, practical and enjoyable modern electrified vehicles are to own and drive every day.
One of the most exciting developments for Armstrong’s is the upcoming arrival of Arcfox, a premium sub-brand of BAIC, which many of you will already know through our recently launched BAIC dealerships. We will begin with the Arcfox T1 Crossover SUV, with additional models set to follow. Arcfox has built a strong international reputation for combining advanced technology, intelligent design and premium quality, and I believe it represents another exciting addition to the growing range of modern electric vehicles now available to New Zealand drivers.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Beijing Auto Show, and the scale of the event was truly remarkable. The quality of product on display and the pace of innovation across the industry was incredibly impressive. It was a powerful reminder of how rapidly the automotive world is evolving globally, with manufacturers from many regions investing heavily in new technology, electrification and smarter mobility solutions.
Manufacturers from Japan, Europe and the UK continue to play a major role in shaping the future of the industry through ongoing advancements in efficiency, safety, performance and design. One of the great strengths of Armstrong’s is the breadth of brands we represent, giving customers access to a wide range of vehicles, technologies and driving experiences to suit different lifestyles and priorities.
On a personal note, it was incredibly rewarding to have recently won the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship for a third consecutive year, alongside winning the Porsche Endurance Trophy New Zealand title for the second time. The season was fiercely competitive from start to finish, and I am very grateful to everyone involved who helped make it possible. Looking back, consistency across the year was key, along with some memorable moments including a clean sweep at Highlands Motorsport Park earlier in the season. Motorsport continues to be something I am deeply passionate about, and I am proud of what the team achieved together.
The automotive industry is clearly entering a period of significant transformation, and it is an exciting time to see so much innovation, competition and fresh thinking coming to market. Whether you are considering making the move into a more fuel-efficient vehicle, exploring some of the newest brands arriving in New Zealand, or simply wanting to experience the latest vehicles across our range, our teams would be delighted to welcome you at your local Armstrong’s dealership.
