Toyota Hiace

New Zealand's hardest-working van. The Hiace teams a strong turbo-diesel with a huge load of space and Toyota dependability.

Toyota Hiace for you

The Hiace has been the backbone of Kiwi businesses for decades, trusted by couriers, tradies, caterers and fleets the length of the country. This generation moves the engine forward for a safer, quieter, more car-like drive, and it keeps the toughness, the huge load space and the dependability the Hiace is famous for. It's still the van that gets the work done.

Discover the new Toyota Hiace.

The latest Hiace is the most refined yet. A semi-bonnet design moves the engine forward of the front axle for a quieter, cooler cabin and a more car-like drive, and it does all that without giving up any of the load space or strength a working van needs.

Built to earn its keep.

A 2.8 litre turbo diesel makes 130 kW and up to 450 Nm through a six-speed manual or auto, so there’s strong low-down pull for loaded work and up to 1,900 kg braked towing rating. It’s a rear-wheel drive with a tough, proven design, so it just keeps working day in and day out.

There’s room to match, with a cargo area from around 6.2 cubic metres up to 9.3, payloads up to about 1,030 kg, twin sliding doors and tie-down points throughout. Whether it’s a sheet of gib between the arches or a full fit-out of racking, the Hiace is built to carry it.

A strong diesel, a huge load space and five-star safety, all in the van Kiwi businesses have trusted for decades.

The exterior of the new Hiace

Semi-bonnet design

The engine sits forward of the front axle for a safer, quieter cabin and a more car-like drive.

LED lighting

Clear LED lighting and a bold, modern front mean it’s the most refined Hiace yet.

Twin sliding doors

Both side doors slide open for easy, safe loading from either side.

Body choices

One width, two lengths and two heights, plus cargo, crew and minibus options to suit the job.

The interior of the Hiace.

Inside, the Hiace is a proper mobile workplace, comfortable and easy to work in across long days on the road.

A safer, smarter workspace

With the engine moved forward the cabin’s quieter, cooler and more comfortable than any Hiace before it. There’s a clear touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sensible storage and a more car-like driving position. The load area is set up to take racking and fit-outs with six tie-down points and easy access through the twin sliding and rear doors.

Safety’s comprehensive, because Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the range with a pre-collision system, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert and road sign assist. Add seven airbags, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and trailer sway control and you’re well looked after.

The workhorse: Hiace ZR

The ZR is the heart of the range, a hard-working cargo van with the 2.8 litre turbo diesel, a six-speed manual or auto, around 6.2 cubic metres of load space and a payload up to about 1,030 kg. Twin sliding doors, six tie-down points and a cargo area ready for racking make it a practical, dependable base for almost any trade.

More space and features: Hiace ZX

The ZX builds on the ZR with extra cargo volume, up to around 9.3 cubic metres in panel-van form, and it adds more features for operators who want a bit more from their van. It keeps the same strong diesel, five-star safety and Toyota dependability, so you can move more in a single trip.
