There is genuine substance behind the A-Class. It drives with the composure you expect from Mercedes-Benz, the cabin is built around the driver and MBUX takes voice commands so the tech stays out of your way while you’re at the wheel.
Sharp to look at, sharper to drive. The A-Class carries sculpted lines, the signature star-pattern grille and crisp LED lighting that give it real exterior presence after dark.
Inside, the twin high-resolution displays stretch across the dash and set the tone for an interior that is not only high tech, but stylishly Mercedes-Benz.
The A-Class is as practical as it looks. There is room where you need it, plus MBUX connectivity that keeps you linked to your phone and navigation while on the move.
Dial in your perfect driving position. The Seat Comfort Package adds a wide range of adjustment, with an extendable seat cushion that gives taller drivers proper support on longer trips. (Optional)
Set the tone from the kerb. 18-inch AMG twin-spoke alloys come as standard, with 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloys on the options list. (Optional)
LED headlamps are standard, with daytime running lights and a dusk sensor that switches them on for you. On unlit roads, Adaptive High Beam Assist dips the beam the moment it spots oncoming traffic or a car ahead, so you get the light without dazzling anyone.
Everyone gets their own comfort. THERMOTRONIC runs two climate zones, so driver and front passenger set temperature independently. The sensors even read conditions like direct sun and adjust on their own, which means less fiddling with the dial.
Leave the key in your pocket. With KEYLESS-GO the doors unlock as you reach for the handle and a push of the starter button has you ready to go. One less thing to think about when your hands are full.
Modern, driver-focused and built around you. The A-Class cabin brings real connectivity and safety kit into the compact class, from the latest MBUX system to the supportive sport seats. Everything is placed to keep you comfortable and in control.
Step inside and the quality is immediate. A wide, free-standing display anchors the dash and keeps what matters in view, while turbine-style vents and high-grade trim lift the space.
The second-generation MBUX answers to your voice, so a quick word replaces digging around through menus.
The comfort seats add adjustable cushioning for longer trips, and there is clever storage tucked around a cabin that feels roomier than the compact badge suggests.
This is where the A-Class shows its teeth.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC and A 45 S 4MATIC+ turn the compact hatch into a proper performance car, with AMG engines and all-wheel drive doing the hard work.
The hot end of the A-Class range.
You know these two are AMG at a glance. The vertical struts in the radiator grille are the signature, with both cars sharing the shark-nose front, the slim headlamps and the power-domed bonnet. Nothing about the look is shy.
The easiest way into AMG and arguably the most fun. The A 35 4MATIC and A 45 S 4MATIC+ pair hand-built 2.0-litre turbocharged engines with AMG-tuned chassis and steering, built for drivers who want real pace without moving up a size.
Hold on tight, in comfort. The AMG High Performance seats adjust their side bolsters through the multicontour function and move electrically, with optional leather and built-in heating. (Optional)
Hear it before you see it. The performance exhaust keeps things civil in comfort mode, then finds its voice when you open the throttle.
Form with a clear function. The optional 19-inch forged alloy wears a dark matte finish and a bold multi-spoke design that leaves no doubt what the car is built for. (Optional)
The A 45 S holds you through the corners. Performance seats with sculpted bolsters, precise stitching and quality leather keep the cabin as focused as the drive.
The optional AMG Aero package for the A 45 S 4MATIC+ adds a front splitter, extra side flics, rear spoiler lips and a deeper diffuser blade. (Optional)
The A 45 S 4MATIC+ makes no apologies. The shark-nose front, the vertical-slat AMG grille and the sharply drawn headlamps state the intent before you read the badge.
Get in and the mood changes. The flat-bottomed AMG steering wheel, marked at twelve o’clock and wrapped in microfibre or Nappa leather, is made for driving with intent.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC is the more accessible of the two.
Its hand-built 2.0-litre turbocharged four makes 225 kW, sent through a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT and 4MATIC all-wheel drive that puts the power down cleanly whatever the weather.
AMG developed the suspension specifically for the A 35, with stiffer components, its own geometry and adaptive damping, then matched it to AMG-specific steering and brakes so every input feels immediate.
The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ is the full-blooded one. Its hand-built 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged four produces 310 kW (421 hp) and 500 Nm, worked through an 8-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch and AMG 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. It clears 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.9 seconds and runs on to a top speed of up to 270 km/h.
The chassis matches the engine. A McPherson strut front with lightweight aluminium parts and a rigid front carrier keeps the steering razor sharp, while a four-link rear on dedicated bearings holds it stable through quick changes of direction.
Speed-sensitive AMG sports steering and big ventilated, perforated brakes finish the job.
